Media personality, Toke Makinwa has disclosed that she lost her elder sister after the Big Brother Naija finale.

She took to Twitter to make the announcement on Monday, October 11. Toke also expressed her gratitude to her fans and well-wishers for their support following the criticism of her new role as the host of the Gulder Ultimate search show.

“You guys make me cry, the amount of support has been so overwhelming, I will not disappoint you all. It’s been the darkest 10 days of my life, I got off the reunion show for BBN to hear that my big sister passed away. My family is going through so much right now guys, thank you,” she tweeted.

According to her, she noted that despite the hurt and pain she continues to work hard to deliver her new task.

“Having to work in the midst of heart wrenching pain is confusing, the Production guys and the entire NB team have been super helpful too. The show must go on so I wipe my tears between takes and focus on delivering on this job. God is still God, I guess,” she tweeted.

Reacting to the numerous posts on her role as the new host of the reality show, she noted that, “You all be so mad it gives me a kick to watch you all cry. Even if the show airs, I know you won’t give me my flowers because it’ll kill you to admit that you are wrong. But you know what? The ball is already in motion, I’ve moved on to even more things that’ll drive you more mad.

Although she continues to come under fire, some of her colleagues have taken to her defense.

Frank Edoho on Twitter said, “I see some people getting irked about Toke Makinwa’s selection as the host of the Gulder Ultimate Search. Hate her all you like, but she still remains a very talented presenter, who most people look forward to seeing when the show kicks off. Don’t let hatred choke you!”

Kemi Adetiba, Director of King of Boys also congratulated “the indestructible @tokstarr for succeeding the throne as the new GUS host for this season”.
