'I hope she gets it' - Reactions as Bobrisky appeals sentence, offers to pay 50k for each offence

Mixed reactions have trailed reports that popular crossdresser Bobrisky has filed a notice appealing his sentencing.

Bobrisky was sentenced to six months without a fine over naira abuse after spending nine days in the custody of the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on April 12, 2024.

His lawyer, Bimbo Kusanu in the appeal sighted by MyNigeria wants the court to set aside the sentence given to the crossdresser and replace it with an option of fine.

In the notice of appeal, Bobrisky informed the court of his willingness to pay the sum of N50k for each of his offenses. He had been sentenced to a four-count charge and that would make N200k.

His lawyer urged the appellate court to consider the fact that he has no previous record of a criminal conviction.

He averred that the sentence imposed by the trial court against him was punitive contrary to the mandatory provisions of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law on sentencing.

He stated that the trial court did not consider the positive antecedent of the appellant, who did not waste the precious judicial resources of the trial court when he pleaded guilty to the charge.

Recall that after he was sentenced, the crossdresser was seen taking his designer box and bag to a car that would convey him to his new home for the next six months.
