Nollywood actress Eniola Badmus has responded after a playful comment from her colleague and longtime friend, Funke Akindele, sparked reactions online.
The light-hearted exchange, captured in a viral clip, showed Funke teasing Badmus about allegedly using government funds to afford her luxury accessories. The joke quickly became a trending topic, especially considering Badmus’ recent political appointment as the Special Assistant on Social Events and Public Hearing to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas.
In the video, Funke, known for her sharp humour and comic delivery, jokingly said to Badmus, “You used all the government money to buy jewellery.”
Reacting, Eniola Badmus firmly denied the claim, stressing that she has never used public funds for personal luxury. She replied, “Your money isn’t in my hands, please. I don’t know what you’re talking about. Everything I’m wearing is locally made. I used my own money to buy them.”
The actress further emphasised that all her accessories, including the jewellery and handbags seen in the clip, were purchased with her hard-earned income. She also noted that her fashion choices are meant to promote Nigerian creativity, as most of her items are locally produced.
Although the actresses were clearly joking, the exchange triggered mixed reactions online, with fans debating the deeper meaning behind the playful banter.
