Sharon Ademefun, entrepreneur and elder sister to Afrobeats superstar Davido, has opened up about her surprisingly grounded childhood, revealing that she worked as a cleaner and babysitter to earn pocket money because her father kept his wealth hidden from his children.

Speaking during an interview on The Fashion Roundtable podcast, Sharon shared that despite being the daughter of billionaire industrialist Adedeji Adeleke, she was unaware of her family's fortune until she was a young adult.

Sharon explained that her father purposely limited their financial allowance to instill a strong work ethic, prompting her to take on everyday jobs during her school years.

"I didn't even know we have money till like 21, to be honest with you. I lived a very normal life outside of my schools," she stated. "I've always worked because my dad will give you just enough. He never let us know."

She recalled earning five pounds a week in high school by cleaning changing rooms and spending nearly five years as a professional babysitter while in college, an experience she credits for giving her a solid foundation in childcare.

It was only after relocating to Nigeria as an adult that she realized how widely recognized her family's background was.

Contrasting her father’s approach with her own parenting style, Sharon noted that while her father was content joining standard amusement park queues with his family, she takes a different approach with her own children today.

"When I take my kids to Disney now, we're going Disney VIP because I'm not queuing for anybody," she joked.

Sharon described her father as a quiet, humble figure who avoided boasting about his wealth, though she playfully added that the famous "30BG" slogan associated with her brother's music brand has recently caught on with him as well.
