'I am paying with my own tears' - Emotional Blessing CEO begs for forgiveness following son's tragic death

Controversial relationship therapist and social media personality Blessing Okoro, widely known as Blessing CEO, has issued a public apology for her past online utterances, revealing that a heartbreaking personal loss has taught her a painful lesson.

In an emotional video posted on her Instagram page on Tuesday, Okoro broke down in tears as she addressed her followers, days after her release from custody on bail and amid intense grief over the death of her nine-year-old son, Bryan.

Bryan, who had suffered from chronic asthma since childhood, passed away in a hospital on June 8, 2026, while Okoro was detained at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos over separate fraud allegations.

Speaking publicly since her release in late October, Okoro expressed deep remorse for not being by her son's side when he died.

Okoro acknowledged that her past social media commentary had caused hurt, admitting she had previously spoken carelessly about painful experiences she had never personally endured.

"I’m so sorry for speaking about the pain I know nothing about. I’m so sorry for speaking about the pain I’ve never felt. I’m sorry for speaking about it carelessly," she confessed.

"I’m realising that talk is cheap... Action speaks louder than words. I’m so ashamed of myself, but I’m human. I’m bound to make mistakes, but mistakes also have a price, and I’m paying for it with my own tears," she added.

Describing herself as completely broken, Okoro likened her attempt to make amends to the biblical story of the prodigal son, appealing to the public and her followers for forgiveness and a fresh start.

Addressing her late son—whom she affectionately called "Doom Doom"—Okoro promised to dedicate her life to righting past wrongs to make him proud. She revealed that the tragedy has taken a severe emotional toll on her family, particularly Bryan's grandmother.

"To my son who passed, whom I call Doom Doom, I miss you... I'm sorry, Bryan. I'm sorry I wasn't there. I'm sorry I came late," she wept.

Okoro concluded the video by expressing the overwhelming weight of her grief, asking for prayers as she struggles to process the loss of her child.
