Nigerian Comedian, Mr Jollof has lashed out at Nigerians who often value a male offspring more than a female.

In a video shared on Twitter, he questioned parents for their demand in getting a boy with the mindset that the men will hold the family's name.

His comment comes in the wake of Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala’s appointment as the Director-General of the World Trade Organisation.

Mr Jollof applauded her for a good work done not only as a Nigerian but also as a female.

He believes she holding this position will change people’s perceptions of having a female child.

"Mama it's a boy that will bear the family's name. How many boys have carried their family's name up to Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

Mummy thank you. Thank you for changing the narrative. Thank you.

You don't know what you have done, If you think this your WTO that you have gotten is just the work, you have changed the narrative of every African man. You've changed the narrative of every Nigerian, You've changed the narrative of every Deltan.

If you've got a girl as a child, appreciate what God has given you. If you've got a boy as a child, appreciate what God has given you.

Not it's a boy that will take his father's name. Is it your not-so-good father's name you want them to bear?

Is it not Ngozi Okonjo that has shown that a woman can actually make it, a woman can actually put the family's name up there?

You are the Marry Slessor of our time. If you don't know, know mummy," he said.

In Nigeria, many people believe that having a male child is tantamount to having your family name live longer while a female child will be married off to take on her husband's name.
