'How is religion working for us?' — Daddy Freeze questions role of religion in Nigeria’s development

Controversial media personality Ifedayo Olarinde, popularly known as Daddy Freeze, has stirred debate after claiming that religion is undermining Nigeria’s development.

Speaking on a recent episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, he argued that despite Nigeria being one of the most religious countries, the nation continues to struggle with poor living standards and economic challenges.

“How is religion working for us?” he asked.

Daddy Freeze went on to compare Nigeria with countries such as Japan, which he described as less religious but far more developed.

“My problem with religion is – it has no results. Where is the prosperity? Where is the love? You say God loves us because we are religious so how come the Japanese are the ones enjoying their own heaven on earth? They are developed,” he said.

He also pointed to concerns about health and longevity, claiming that Nigeria has one of the shortest life expectancies globally.

“We pay more tithes than taxes in this country yet our prayers and sacrifices don’t seem to reflect on the condition of our nation,” he added.

His remarks have since sparked mixed reactions online, with many debating the relationship between religion, governance, and national progress.
