The funeral of late NURTW organising secretary, Toba Ajiboye, popularly known as Toba Ijaya, was marked by an emotional tribute from his daughter that drew loud reactions from mourners on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.
The burial was held at Ereko Street, Fadeyi, Lagos.
Family members, friends, colleagues, union members and sympathisers gathered in large numbers, dressed in black, white and traditional burial attire to pay their final respects to the transport union leader.
One of the defining moments of the ceremony came when Toba Ijaya’s daughter addressed the gathering.
Speaking with composure, she delivered a heartfelt tribute to her father in fluent British English.
Her eloquence and poise held the attention of the crowd.
As she spoke of her father’s life and legacy, many mourners were seen wiping tears, while others offered nods and murmurs of approval.

Toba Ijaya was a prominent figure in the National Union of Road Transport Workers and was widely known in transport and community circles in Lagos.
