Nigerian music icon Charly Boy, also known as Area Fada 1, took to Twitter to share a heartfelt tribute to Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the man who provided the support he needed to kickstart his career.

Chief Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Iwuanyanwu, a notable politician and businessman often referred to as the "Richest Igbo man in Nigeria," passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at the age of 82.

Upon hearing the sad news of his passing, Charly Boy, also known as Area Fada 1, took to the microblogging platform X to share a lengthy and heartfelt message, paying his last respects to the man who played a pivotal role in launching his career.

"When I returned from the USA in 1981, all I had was a dream and a broke ass Charly Boy wannabe," Charly Boy began, recounting his humble beginnings. He revealed that after disowning his parents for not supporting his dreams, he accidentally met Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyawu in his village, Oguta.

Chief Iwuanyawu, moved by Charly Boy's passion and determination, gave him $8,000. "I almost fainted. That gave me the impetus to build the brand as I started my Jankara studio in my village," Charly Boy wrote. This generous gesture from Chief Iwuanyawu was the first significant support Charly Boy received, enabling him to pursue his dreams and build his brand.

Charly Boy reflected on the true essence of legacy, emphasizing that it is about the lives we touch, the inspiration we provide, and the moments we alter for others. He highlighted how Chief Iwuanyawu's kindness not only jumpstarted his career but also left a lasting impact on many others.

"My people, legacy is really about the lives we touched, the inspiration we gave, altering someone’s plan – if even for a moment – and getting them to think, cry, laugh, argue. More than anything, we are remembered for our smiles; the ones we share with our closest and dearest, and the ones we bestow on total strangers, who needed it right then, and God put us there to deliver," Charly Boy wrote.

Expressing his eternal gratitude, Charly Boy concluded, "Chief, I can never forget how out of the blues, you jumpstarted my career. I know many will share similar stories of how you touched their lives. I remain ever so grateful. Rest In Peace, biggest bros/father."

This touching tribute not only honors Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyawu but also serves as a reminder of the profound impact that a single act of kindness can have on someone's life.
