1. First African Female Artiste To Debut At Number One On The Billboard Hot 100

Future’s ninth studio album “I Never Liked You” features a number of notable artistes including Tems.

Off the album, the song ‘Wait for U’ features Drake who raps and Tems sings the chorus accordingly.

The vocals of Tems in Future’s song are a sample from her 2020 single, ‘Higher’.

The song debuted at number one on the Hot 100, making Tems the first African female artist to debut and top the list.

2. Tems Join A-List Celebrities On New Coca-Cola Campaign

The gifted Nigerian singer took to her social media platform in May to announce that she had joined the list of talented acts selected for a new Coca-Cola campaign.

The campaign was in collaboration with Universal Music Group and its artistes creating a music platform for the biggest music platform for emerging talents. 5 of the artistes are from Universal Music Group while the sixth is from the Universal Music Publishing Group.

The list of the stars includes; Tems, Ari Lennox, Griff, K-Pop girl group TRI.BE, Ekin Beril, Mariah Angeliq, and Tesher.

The musicians joined together to perform a cover of Queen’s “A Kind of Magic,” which was released in 1986.

3. Tems Bags Two BET Awards – Becoming The 1st Nigerian Female To Win ‘Best International Act’ At BET Awards

Tems received three nominations for the 22nd BET Awards. The categories include best international act, best collaboration, and best new artist.

She took up two of the three awards, including best collaboration for her work on Wizkid’s song “Essence” as well as best international act, easily beating Fireboy DML, Little Simz, and several other performers.

She became the first Nigerian woman to grab the award which has been won by six Nigerians including Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, Ice Prince, D’banj, and 2Baba.

4. Tems features on ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ soundtrack

On the 24th of June, Nigerian superstar, Tems was unveiled as the singer of the “No Woman, No Cry” soundtrack for the “Wakanda Forever” Black Panther Movie.

Nigerian singer joined the ranks of over 70 artistes who have covered Bob Marley’s No Woman, No Cry (1974).

The Afrobeats singer’s voice and Bob’s lyrics are front and center in Marvel Studios’ first teaser trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which debuted on 24th of July at San Diego Comic-Con.

5. The First Female Nigerian Artiste To Make Solo Debut On Billboard Hot 100

On the 25th of July, Tems solo “Free Mind” released in 2020, off her For “Broken Ears EP” debut on Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Tems peaked at No. 90, making it her fourth time appearing on the prestigious Billboard Hot 100 chart at that time.

She became the first female Nigerian artiste to achieve this in the Nigerian music industry.

6. Tems Hits Number 1 Spot On The Billboard Charts With Cover Of “No Woman No Cry”

Tems hit number 1 on the Billboard Charts with the sensational cover to the song ‘No Woman No Cry’ on “Wakanda Forever” Black Panther Movie.

Tems becomes the first Nigerian artiste with a solo at number one on the Billboard Charts.

Tems delivery of the song had left many captivated after the trailer had been released as many can not help but praise the vocals of the multiple award-winning singer.

7. Tems Becomes The Nigerian Artiste With The Most Billboard Hot 100 Appearances

Tems proved why she’s the leading vibe yet again as she hits a new record on the Billboard Hot 100 by becoming the Nigerian artiste with the most Billboard Hot 100 Appearances.

The star unlocked this new height following the entry of Beyonce’s Move, which she’s featured on the Billboard charts.

This development makes it the third song which Tems is credited to the popular charts. It also makes her the second Nigerian artiste to achieve this as she now ties with Essence collaborator, Wizkid.
