'Haven't gotten money from music yet' - Whitemoney speaks

Whitemoney Whitemoney

Former Big Brother Naija All Stars housemate Whitemoney has surprised both fans and critics with his insights on his musical career as he speaks in a recent interview with BBC Igbo.

According to the reality celebrity and self-described musician, streaming music hasn't been a lucrative business for him at this point.

Whitemoney emphasized that, despite the fact that he might not have a "fine" voice, he is dedicated to using his music to spread a significant message and is not interested in fitting in with the status quo.

He said: “The truth is singing has not started paying me; I do not get money from streaming, but I get money from performances. I do not have the best voice but I have a message and melody,” he said during the interview.

The former reality star who is now a musician acknowledged that he gets criticism from those who are paid to assess his work.

Whitemoney did, however, make it apparent that his artistic expression is not meant to appease everyone or to satisfy outside opinions, particularly that of those who neither sponsor nor encourage his musical endeavors.

He said: “People criticise me, even those paid to criticise me. What you need to know is that I do not sing to make you feel fine or please you because you do not feed me or fund my musical career."
