Renowned Nollywood actor, Hanks Anuku has clarified rumors about his mental health and substance use, following a viral video that falsely depicted him as mentally unstable.

In a conversation with content creator Lucky Udu, Anuku addressed the speculations that arose from a 2022 video where he was seen in tattered clothes, seemingly talking to himself. The video led to widespread concern and rumors that the actor was battling mental instability.

Anuku firmly denied these allegations, stating, "I am not a mad man... Some people say I was on hard drugs. I don’t do hard drugs. Back in the days I used to smoke but not anymore.”

The veteran actor explained that he has always maintained control over his actions and has never indulged in hard drugs. “I never went into anything hard drugs. I have self-control. There’s probably where I was depressed and had to have a little drink like beers or wine. That’s it. I don’t drink hard liquor.”

Anuku also shared the emotional toll of being betrayed by people close to him, which contributed to his temporary isolation. “But I was just isolated because I never thought I would be betrayed by my own people. It hurt me so much.”

The actor’s revelations aim to dispel the misinformation and assure his fans and the public of his well-being.
