The 120-hour cook-a-thon accomplishment of Nigerian chef Damilola Adeparusi, also known as Chef Dammy, has been acknowledged by Guinness World Records.

The chef started preparing meals on Friday, June 9 in Oye-Ekiti with a target cooking duration of 120 hours.

Adeparusi achieved her goal of 120 hours of cooking on Wednesday, June 14, morning to both cheers and condemnation from various people.

Some people are unsure if Adeparusi broke Hilda Baci's record of 93 hours 11 minutes by using the proper process or not.

On Tuesday, June 13, Legit issued a press request to the Guinness World Records in an effort to learn more details about the matter.

According to a response from the organization, the chef should have been sent procedures and rules to follow if she had wanted their consent before starting the cook-a-thon.

The message read, “We have not received an application for this attempt. Applications can be made via the Guinness World Records website for our records management team to review.

“Once an application is accepted, the record claimant receives a set of detailed guidelines specific to that record category that must be adhered to.

“This also details a list of evidence that must be submitted for our team to verify the record. Guinness World Records maintains a rigorous review process to maintain the integrity of each Guinness World Records title.”
