Grammy Awards: Burna Boy set to join 7 Nigerians as winner

In a few hours time, Burna Boy will likely be announced the winner of the Best World Music Album category in the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards.

The afro-fusion singer got nominated for his highly successful album, African Giant, which got released in 2019.

If Burna Boy wins the Grammy Award, he will be joining a list of other Nigerians who have held the prestigious and highly coveted plaque.

The list includes Sade Adu, Sikiru Adepoju, Cynthia Erivo, Hakeem Seriki, Kevin Olusola, Seal, Henry Olusegun Adeola Samuel.

However, Burna Boy has fierce competition to battle it out with in the category for Best World Music Album.

The Nominees and their album in the category include:

Gece. Altin Gün. What Heat. Bokanté & Metropole Orkest Conducted By Jules Buckley. African Giant. Burna Boy. Fanm D'ayiti. Nathalie Joachim With Spektral Quartet. Celia. Angelique Kidjo.

Angelique Kidjo who is from Benin Republic in West Africa has won the category once before and also twice in the Best Contemporary World Music Album.
