Govt not doing enough for Nigerians –Seyi Shay

Singer, Deborah Oluwaseyi, who is professionally known as Seyi Shay, is of the opinion that the government isn’t doing enough to alleviate the sufferings of Nigerians, especially during the lockdown.

In an interview with Saturday Beats, she said, “I heard of all the billions that private individuals donated but I can’t see the relief for our people. There is anarchy everywhere and people without homes have no place to ‘stay at home’. It is very sad and I think the government should be doing more than just telling everyone to stay at home. It’s very impractical and irresponsible.”

On how she had been keeping herself engaged during the lockdown, the ‘Yolo’ singer said, “I have been well; thanks to God. I have been staying at home and working out every day. Funnily enough, I am getting a lot more work done than I ever did in the past. I also have a studio at home so I have been working on more music and other contents.”

Shay stated that she had been engaging with her fans despite the lockdown. “I have been engaging (with my fans) a lot on social media. I have been supporting charities via my platforms and having open conversations about our current situation. I had a virtual concert at home and I partnered with YouTube to stream it to over 1,000 people around the world. I also had a concert at home for the World Health Organisation, which was streamed to over 7,000 people on Instagram Live.”

The singer also urged people in relationships to stay in touch with their partners by using digital platforms. “We live in digital times. Use Zoom (video telephony and online chat service) and messaging apps. By all means, stay in touch,” she said.

Actress and filmmaker, Amanda Ebeye, has added another feather to her cap with the production of a new television series titled, ’It’s a Crazy World’.

The programme features Bob-Manuel Udokwu, Grace Ama, Frances Odega, Kunle Coker, among others and according to Ebeye, it was inspired by people who led fake lives on social media. She told Saturday Beats, “The series was inspired by social media— majorly how people like to make their lives seem perfect online, and the competition that goes on there with everyone trying to outdo the other person.”

On what differentiates the series from others on offer, the ‘Clinic Matters’ actress said, “It is different because it is funny and there is a lot to learn from it. It’s a family comedy drama, which is very educative. We want to teach young girls and boys that there’s more to life than social media. People that seem to have perfect lives on the Internet don’t always have it so. Most times, if one looks closely, one would realise things are actually far from perfect.”

On what informed the choice of the cast, Ebeye added, “Delivery and carriage were the major things we looked out for and we wanted perfect fits for the roles. All the actors are amazing and we have seen them pull off equally challenging roles in other productions.”

5' ENTERTAINMENT Celebs putting naked girls on Instagram disgusting –Savage Trap Queen Published May 2, 2020

? Olajide Samuel

Former porn star, Delphina Joy, better known as Savage Trap Queen, says she is disgusted and alarmed by the trend of celebrities encouraging young ladies to dance unclad on Instagram.

Savage, who also doubles as a dancer, told Saturday Beats, “I find it very disgusting and alarming because those females are ruining their futures, either for fame or fortune. Celebrities are supposed to stop such awful sexual activities, rather than glorify them. Famous personalities are supposed to educate young Nigerians about not endangering their futures on social media, rather than preying on their naivety.”

She continued, “I am against ladies dancing naked on social media because I did something similar in the past. I have learnt my lessons but I am still suffering the repercussions. Those that appreciate one dancing naked don’t actually want the best for one. One of the repercussions of dancing naked online is that it stops one from getting job opportunities. I recently tried to audition for an acting role via Instagram Live and a particular director refused to pick me. They were still holding on to the past despite knowing that I have stopped being a porn star or glorifying sexual acts online. I feel it is wrong for people to still have that thought about me. Right now, I am trying to do what is right for me. That was why I stopped being a porn star and desisted from any porn-related activities.”

On if she still gets offers from her former colleagues in the porn industry, she said, “I don’t get such offers (anymore) because I stopped relating with those that are still involved. I, however, have healthy relationships with those who pulled out.”
