Gov Abiodun to suspend Ogun lockdown by Tuesday

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has said that the state's lockdown would be suspended on Tuesday morning after it commenced 11pm on Friday.

In order to ease the effect of the lockdown on the people, the governor said that the lockdown will be lifted for seven hours every 48 hours.

Gov. Abiodun made this known during a briefing held at his residence in Iperu-Remo, on Friday night.

Disinfection will take place in the state during the lockdown in public places such as markets, motor parks and other essential areas across the state.

According to Abiodun, the lockdown will be lifted by 7.00am and 2.00pm on Tuesday and subsequently every other day to allow operations of essential services.

There will be opportunity for economic activities within the few hours of that the curfew will be relaxed, the governor added.

He explained that personnel of essential services providers such as security and fire service personnel, petroleum products dealers, food producers, and water distributors would have unlimited access to movement to perform their duties.

He said that "the lockdown will be total from now till 7.00am on Tuesday. The lockdown will be suspended between 7.00am and 2.00pm to allow for essential business activities.

"This 7.00am to 2.00pm window will be observed every other day therefrom that is, Tuesday instant, Thursday, and Saturday for the coming week."
