Popular Nigerian TV host, Frank Edoho, has clapped back at controversial social media commentator, Daniel Regha, after the latter criticized singer Adekunle Gold’s outfit to the prestigious Ballon d’Or ceremony.
Daniel Regha had argued that Adekunle Gold missed an opportunity to promote Nigerian or African heritage by wearing a culturally inspired outfit instead of a tuxedo. According to him, public figures should do better by using global platforms to showcase African identity, even if it’s just through suits made with native fabrics.
However, Frank Edoho wasn’t having it. Responding on X (formerly Twitter), Edoho mocked Daniel Regha’s past fashion choice, where he appeared at an event in an unconventional outfit. Edoho asked what African culture Regha himself was showcasing on that occasion, describing his look as that of a “lost Eskimo starring in a duvet advert from IKEA.”
The clapback has since gone viral, sparking a heated debate online. While some social media users sided with Regha’s call for cultural representation on global stages, others felt his criticism of Adekunle Gold was hypocritical, given his own questionable fashion history.
When Daniel Regha wore this to an event, what was African Culture was he showcasing?

You’re calling other people un-African, yet you came here looking like a lost Eskimo starring in a duvet advert from IKEA. 🤣 https://t.co/Es97gczLKT pic.twitter.com/94RioRbmZL
