Fireboy DML speaks on why his music career has been quiet in 2023

Nigerian singer Adedamola Adefolahan, also known as Fireboy DML, has disclosed the reason behind his lackluster musical output in 2023.

Recall that Fireboy experienced a fantastic global run in 2021 and 2022 thanks to the release of his smash single "Peru" and a remix featuring British music icon Ed Sheeran.

Fireboy said that he had to step back in order to get better, which was why he has been silent in 2023.

He said: “…this year is one of those years where it’s necessary for artiste to grow and step down from all the craziness”

Speaking in a recent interview with Wat And Ers, Fireboy said: “2023 has been a year of learning and growth for me as a person and as an artist.

“I’m just really grateful for the journey. When people say be grateful for the journey, I think this year has been that year for me.

“Sometimes, it’s okay to step out from being an artiste and just realise that you’re human as well.

“With an actual life, with real problems just like everybody else. And this year has really taught me to appreciate all those things.”
