Finally, Speed Darlington regains freedom

Controversial singer Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, has been released from police custody.

The update was disclosed by human rights lawyer Deji Adeyanju in a post on X, where he wrote, "Speed Darlington is out of Kuje Prison."

This development follows the Abuja court's recent decision to grant Speed Darlington bail.

His arrest stemmed from a petition filed by Grammy Award-winning artist Burna Boy, who accused him of making defamatory claims, including allegations of an immoral relationship with embattled U.S. rapper and music executive Sean Combs, also known as P. Diddy.

In an order issued on December 23, 2024, Justice M.S. Liman directed the police to either charge Okoye in court within 48 hours or release him unconditionally. Following the court's directive, Speed Darlington was freed from custody.
