'Fame is a punishment' - Blaqbonez bemoans pressure on celebrities

Nigerian rapper Emeka Akumefule who is better known as Blaqbonez has lamented the strain celebrities face in an effort to remain relevant.

For the rapper, "fame is a punishment" since it has drawbacks of its own.

Speaking in an interview, Blaqbonez stated that because of their celebrity and the high expectations placed on them by the public, celebrities are no longer able to engage in their regular activities.

He said: "Normal people can have all the money in the world, drive a more bigger car than I drive then in traffic everybody will leave them and focus on me

"I can’t even do the basic things in life anymore because of fame. I can’t go out in Nigeria to have actual fan

"It’s a crazy punishment because I have to be hiding. The worst part is that when you start falling from that point, people still expect you to be operating in that point. People do not expect you to be broke because you’re a celebrity."
