Nollywood actress Eniola Badmus has backed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's economic policies, pointing to declining imports and increasing exports as indicators of economic expansion.
The actress and ardent All Progressives Congress (APC) supporter posted data demonstrating a trade surplus of more than N14 trillion in just eight months on her Instagram story.
According to Eniola Badmus, the data was a "nice change from consumption to production."
She wrote: “For the year-to-date 2024, our imports were N24.44 trillion, while our exports stood at N38.59 trillion. This gives us an unprecedented trade surplus of over N14 trillion in just eight months.
“It has never happened in Nigeria. Never. This is a refreshing shift from consumption to production.”
Eniola Badmus' review, however, comes at a time when the nation is facing numerous difficulties and inflation, as millions of people demonstrated in August against the worsening economic circumstances.
Many called on President Bola Tinubu to do something about the current economic crisis in the country as it was getting out of hand.
