Grammy-winning Afrofusion artise, Damini Ogulu, well known as Burna Boy, has found himself at the center of a heated controversy following a viral incident at one of his recent U.S shows.
It was earlier reported that the singer had confronted a fan who was sleeping during his concert and ordered security to remove her from the audience, sparking criticism over his dismissive remark, “Did I tell you to be my fans?”
The clip quickly spread online, fueling conversations about whether the African Giant's attitude is beginning to wear thin with fans.
Burna Boy later addressed the situation, explaining that he reacted out of a need to protect his “energy” due to personal struggles.
Nonetheless, the backlash has cast a shadow over what should have been a triumphant milestone, his second time headlining one of Houston’s largest arenas, a feat no other African artiste has achieved.
Adding to the controversy are claims circulating on social media that Burna Boy allegedly sold only 2,000 tickets for a venue expected to hold 18,000, leading to images of empty seats going viral.
While official sources highlight his record-setting achievement and have not confirmed the low sales figures, the rumours have intensified debates about whether Burna Boy’s U.S. buzz is slowing down.
While Burna Boy’s U.S. show stirred conversations for the wrong reasons, Olamide’s “Live in Concert” in London has been praised as a masterclass in fan engagement and stage dominance.
