Founder and Senior Pastor of Salvation Ministries, David Ibiyeomie, has condemned internet fraud, popularly known in Nigeria as "Yahoo," warning members of his congregation involved in the practice against bringing their offerings to his church.

Speaking during a service, the cleric described the activity as a crime and shared how a colleague died suddenly after being defrauded.

"If you're in this church and you're doing yahoo, please don't give your offering here, go to another church. These are people without conscience who are sitting comfortably in church. Yahoo is stealing no matter how you paint it. Is it your money? I knew someone who was an electrical engineer and a professor. Yahoo boys stole everything he had. All his money. His life savings. He dropped dead. How can you be a friend to such a person?" he asked.

He warned members of his congregation to desist from mingling with such people and said that offerings from the proceeds of 'yahoo' will not be accepted.

" If you are walking with such a person, separate from him now. They have killed people. People have died. If you are here and you are a Yahoo boy, don't come and give your offering. Take it to another church. I don't want your money," he added.

The sermon has sparked widespread reaction online since it was delivered at the weekend, with many praising the pastor for what they described as rare moral clarity on a subject Nigerian church leaders often avoid.

Others, however, questioned why proceeds from other questionable sources, including politics, rarely face the same level of scrutiny from the pulpit.
