Nollywood actress Damilola Adegbite has urged single ladies not to accept relationship or marriage proposals from men simply because they were chosen, but to instead settle only for partners who are genuinely right for them.

Speaking in a recent episode of her podcast posted on her YouTube channel, Adegbite noted that some women settle for men ready to commit solely because the men expressed interest, without considering compatibility.

"Ladies, don't choose someone because they chose you. Choose someone because they are right for you; whether he's younger, older or exactly your age, the question is always: Can we love, support, and build with each other?

"Because at the end of the day, we are not looking for numbers. We are looking for a partner. And if that partner happens to be younger, that is also fine," she said.

Adegbite also advised older women against accepting proposals from younger men simply because of their age, urging them instead to assess whether such partners are respectful and emotionally mature before saying yes.

"To the older woman, if a younger man is interested in you, please don't make the mistake of choosing him because he makes you feel desirable. Choose him because he respects, supports, and makes you feel safe," she said.

She added: "Only choose him if he is emotionally mature and knows what he wants, respects your children and your life, and actually wants to build something with you."
