Don Jazzy explains why he avoids some Nigerian concerts

Nigerian music executive and Mavin Records boss, Don Jazzy, has opened up on why he no longer attends certain music concerts in the country.

Speaking during a recent conversation, the music mogul explained that poor crowd behaviour and insecurity at some events have made him uncomfortable with attending shows, especially due to the frequent cases of theft.

According to him, many concertgoers arrive at venues with valuables like phones and wristwatches but end up losing them before the event is over. He noted that such experiences have discouraged even people within the entertainment industry from freely attending shows.

Don Jazzy, however, praised fellow Mavin artiste Johnny Drille for creating a different kind of concert atmosphere. He described Johnny Drille’s fan community as peaceful, respectful, and safe, adding that he feels relaxed whenever he attends the singer’s performances.

“Johnny Drille has an amazing community. It’s one of those shows where I can literally go without carrying money because nobody will disturb me. There are some concerts you attend and if you wear a wristwatch, you may not leave with it,” he said.

He also recalled being surprised by the massive turnout at Johnny Drille’s first live concert, noting that despite the crowd size, the atmosphere remained calm and organized.

The producer further praised Ayra Starr and Johnny Drille for building fanbases known for positive energy and respect.

His comments have since sparked conversations online, with some Nigerians agreeing with his concerns about security at concerts, while others felt he was subtly promoting Johnny Drille’s brand and shows.
