Davido’s old post about APC goes viral as uncle joins Tinubu’s 2027 campaign council

Social media has erupted following the appointment of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke as a state coordinator for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign council, prompting fans to dig up past declarations by his nephew, Afrobeats star Davido.

The appointment, announced as part of a revised APC Presidential Campaign Council list that also features opposition figures like FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo, has drawn significant scrutiny, given Adeleke’s political affiliation with the Accord Party.

Following the news, Davido’s past social media statement vehemently rejecting the ruling party resurfaced online. Ahead of the August 2026 Osun governorship election, the singer had explicitly declared:
"I can never support APC in my life!!!"

While Davido refrained from issuing an official statement regarding his uncle's new role, he posted a video on his Instagram Story showing Governor Adeleke singing and dancing.

The quiet reaction did not stop fans from expressing disappointment online, with several social media users tagging the singer to question the political alliance.

Adding further fuel to the political discourse, Davido’s logistics manager, Israel DMW, weighed in on regional politics by sharing a throwback video of late former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Praising the late former president for overseeing off-cycle elections in Edo State, Israel DMW drew a direct contrast with recent political developments.

"General Muhammadu Buhari, at least, you conducted a very free and credible election in Edo State while in power," Israel DMW posted. "You gave us Edolites the right to choose whoever we wanted as Governor... What we later saw after you left was full impunity that has continually brought us public disgrace."

Israel's comments came shortly after FCT Minister Nyesom Wike publicly disclosed how he worked against his own party during the 2024 Edo State governorship election, sparking heated debate across social media platforms regarding political cross-alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
