Grammy-award nominee Davido has filed a lawsuit against his first baby mama Sophia Momodu at the Lagos State High Court regarding their daughter Aurora Imade Adeleke's custody.

Sophia Momodu is the only respondent in the lawsuit, which is dated April 17, 2024, and bears the file number LD/1587PMC/2024, while Davido was listed as the applicant.

Davido has requested for an order from the court to ensure that he gets unrestricted access to his daughter and joint custody of Imade.

Even after Sophia Momodu and Davido broke up a few years ago, Davido claimed to have always taken care of their daughter's needs.

This includes paying Sophia Momodu and Imade's housing rent as well as all of Imade's educational expenses.

Davido countered that Sophia Momodu was only making irrational demands to irritate him.

He cited a situation in which Sophia Momodu turned down his offer of a N200 million flat in a gated community in Oniru, Victoria Island, Lagos. Rather, she insisted that he keep paying N5 million a year for the rental home they currently live in.

Davido stated: “The respondent rejected the offer to stay and live at the above-described secured Oniru apartment, which had been purchased already, but demanded that I continue to pay N5,000,000 annually for a rented facility as my own contribution towards my daughter’s accommodation."

In addition, Davido stated that he attempted to fulfil Sophia Momodu and Imade's transportation needs—including getting the child to and from school—by purchasing a Range Rover Sport Utility Vehicle, but his efforts were unsuccessful.

When Momodu called her daughter's school to inquire about Imade's two-week absence, he said that sometime last year, “she began to make excuses and complained that the Range Rover SUV was not in a good condition, however, she refused to inform me about that.”

Davido added, “That sequel to the information about the said condition of the vehicle, I provided another vehicle, Highlander SUV, and in addition, the sum of N5.8m as requested by her for the repair of the Range Rover SUV, making it two vehicles in the custody and use of the respondent and our daughter.”

Davido said that he made commitments to pay for living expenses, the nanny's fees to their child, provide medical and health care, insurance, periodic international travel expenses and tickets to further guarantee that their child's interests were suitably taken care of.

He added: “Notwithstanding my efforts in the overall interest of my daughter, the respondent has continued to make outlandish and Utopian demands to frustrate me.”

Davido said that Sophia Momodu insisted on receiving $800 a month from the nanny she hired, "and that the total sum of $19,600 per annum be paid as a lump sum."

The Afrobeats superstar further asserted that Sophia Momodu has continued to mistreat him and cause him a great deal of suffering, even though he has helped to ensure a better life for their daughter.

Davido following this, asked for "an order granting joint custody of Miss Imade Adeleke" from the court.
