'Dash wizkid one naw' - Nigerians react as Asake bags 8 Headies nominations

Through its award, which has since grown to be the highest prize in Nigerian music, the Headies has played a significant role since its founding in 2006 in the chronicling of the advancements made in the Nigerian music industry.

The Headies Academy on Wednesday, July 12, released the nomination list for some of the categories.

Many were shocked to see that Asake, a fast emerging singer, had been nominated for 8 awards at the forthcoming ceremony.

Asake received nominations for Best Street-Hop Artist, Best Collaboration, Next Rated, Best Male Artist, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Headies' Viewer's Choice, and Digital Artist of the Year.

After accomplishing this achievement, Asake posted a picture of the nominations he has gotten along with the message: "Thank you @The_Headies for the nominations. This means a lot to me"

Reacting to the news, many social media users applauded the singer while others begged him to give Grammy Award-winning singer, Wizkid one of his nominations.
