Damilola Adegbite calls for more positive conversations about love, marriage

Actress Damilola Adegbite has called for more positive conversations about love, relationships and marriage.

In a video shared on her Instagram page, the actress said she believes lasting, healthy relationships are still possible despite the negative narratives that often dominate public discourse.

Adegbite observed that while stories of betrayal, disappointment and failed marriages frequently attract attention, many relationships built on peace, mutual support, growth and purpose rarely receive the same recognition.

She questioned whether her optimism about love made her seem out of touch with reality and asked whether others also had partners who had positively transformed their lives away from the spotlight of social media.

The actress encouraged people in healthy relationships to share their experiences more openly, saying positive stories should be normalised alongside conversations about the challenges of marriage.

According to her, celebrating stable and fulfilling relationships is just as important as discussing the difficulties many couples face.

“Is there anyone who still believes in love? Besides the horror and terrible stories that we keep hearing, disappointments in marriages, betrayals, and heartbreak.

“I still believe that long-lasting, healthy relationships can exist. I feel like I don’t want to be alone; am I dreaming of La La Land?

“Does anyone have a partner who has been a genuine blessing? I’m not talking about being in front of the camera; in private, you are something else. I am talking about behind the scenes; your partner has made you a much better version of yourself.

“Let’s normalise sharing stories of relationships and marriages that bring peace, growth, and purpose too”, she said.
