Nigerian actress Dakore Akande has taken legal action against the infamous Instagram blog “Gistloverblog” after it posted claims suggesting she was involved in a romantic relationship with Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

In a strongly-worded cease and desist notice, Akande’s legal team accused the blog of publishing “suggestive and defamatory content” that featured the actress’s image, potentially damaging her reputation.

The viral post alleges a connection between Akande and Akpabio, despite her longstanding marriage to Mr. Akande and the fact that she has “never met the Senate President in any capacity.”

Gistloverblog recently published claims that Senator Akpabio was entangled in an extramarital affair, implicating Dakore Akande in the process. The allegation caused massive public uproar and prompted Akande’s immediate legal response.

Akande’s lawyers have demanded the immediate removal of the defamatory post and an end to any further statements maligning the actress. They have warned that non-compliance within 24 hours will result in “vigorous legal proceedings,” including the pursuit of damages, injunctive relief, and coverage of legal fees.

The notice also references Section 375 of the Criminal Code Act, highlighting that the blog’s post could be legally classified as defamation. Akande’s legal team stressed the severe potential consequences these false allegations could have on her personal and professional life.
