The electoral temperature in the country leading up to the just-ended presidential primaries of the All Progressive Congress (APC) was always at its peak.
The conversation about a consensus candidate from the southwest was uncertain despite the talks that Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo would step for his political benefactor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
That wasn't the case as all 23 presidential aspirants took turns to speak directly to delegates about their presidential ambitions and why they should be given the nod to lead the party in 2023.
While the politicking remained intense, one element that doused the tension inside the open space of the Eagle Square in Abuja was the official disk jockey, DJ Benny.
Ayeni Benjamin with a wide selection of Afrobeats songs used the skill of the turntable to ensure patrons at the venue and those at home got the right blend of politics and entertainment. "Buga" by Kizz Daniel and "High" by Adekunle Gold featuring Davido gained prominent plays on the night.
For this reason, the hashtag "The DJ" hit the trends on the micro-blogging platform, Twitter. Shuffling between the number 1 and 5 on the trends, it garnered more than 46.7K tweets, the conversation surrounded his timing and the choice of songs.
He reacted to his newfound fame in a chat with MyNigeria's Barbara Esinam Bonney.

Dj Benny said he never imagined the sort of reception he is getting now, talkless of being part of the conversation on social media.
According to the Yaba-based Dj, he was just doing what he was paid to do as he thanked Nigerians for the massive support he received so far.
"Trending on Twitter, trending everywhere, at first I never, you know, felt it was going to be possible because I was just doing what I was paid to do. Me coming out of the stage and trending on Twitter, that's the highlight for me."
"I'm just one humble guy from Yaba," he concluded.
We asked what motivated his choice of songs, he said: "I was instructed to play some particular songs, not to just play any type of song."
He has received recognition from Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, top celebrities and famous blogger Tunde Ednut.
