Cry-a-thon: GWR reacts as man allegedly goes blind attempting world record

Guinness World Records (GWR) has responded to claims that a Nigerian man who attempted to smash the record for the longest crying marathon temporarily lost his vision in his quest to do so.

The man who has been identified as Tembu Ebere sought to set a new Guinness World Record by continuously crying for seven days.

Ebere is reported to be of Cameroonian ancestry.

In an interview that was shown on BBC on Sunday, July 16, Ebere disclosed that during the challenge, he temporarily lost his vision for 45 minutes.

He said he had to re-strategize as the screaming gave him migraines.

Guinness World Record, however, detached itself from Ebere's quest, stating that it was never approved.

Taking to its Twitter page, GWR wrote: “Just to quell some recent rumors, we wouldn’t ever monitor a record for the longest marathon crying. Here’s what can be monitored by our team."
