Criticisms as Davido names next top 5 artistes; Tems, Omah Lay, Fireboy excluded

Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke better known as Davido has sparked new social media drama following his prediction that Rema, Asake, Victony, Buju BNXN, Ayra Starr, and Ruger would rule the Nigerian music industry.

The five vocalists, according to Davido in an interview with Omega, will transform the music industry.

Listing his five big artistes in Nigeria, Davido said; “I would say like the next big five. I would say Rema; he got the ‘Calm Down’ record, Buju (BNXN), Ayra Starr…I would say Victony.

"No, no, me I no want jones o. Okay, let’s do it like this. It’s Rema, Buju, Asake; between him and Rema, I would say they are at the top…Ayra Starr and Ruger. The future of afrobeats, I would say it’s crazy.”

This comes few weeks after Davido started the new and old cats musicians drama on social media.

Social media users expressed displeasure at Davido's comment, especially for excluding Fireboy DML, Tems and Omah Lay in his list of “next big 5."
