Up and coming singer, Charles Chibuezechukwu, aka Crayon, has narrated how his plans to become a professional football crashed.

Speaking in an interview with Cool FM on Thursday, Crayon noted that his dream to become a footballer ended due to the corruption that exist in the country.

According to him, he had gone for a football screening at the National Stadium and was selected but was swindled, as he was replaced by someone else who had a wealthy background.

This he said, left him disappointed and depressed.

“I tried to become a professional footballer but it didn’t work out for me because football in Nigeria is quite dicey.

“There is a lot of corruption. I don’t want to mention names because it might hurt some people. They are big names; top officials.

“At a time, I went for one screening in Surulere, they picked me and they had to swindle me and pick someone else because the person had money and connections.

“So, at that point, I became disappointed. I went home depressed,” he said.

Despite his football dream not coming to pass, he realised he had another potential which was singing.

His star shone when he was selected to join Mavin records owned by famous music producer, Don Jazzy.
