Coronavirus kills Union Bank staff in Lagos

The Chief Executive Officer of the Bank, Emeka Emuwa, has confirmed the death of a staff of the bank who died from coronavirus.

A memo issued by the bank revealed that the staff died while receiving treatment at the Infectious Disease Center in Yaba, Lagos.

The memo also revealed that the staff was working remotely before he contracted coronavirus which led to his death.

It reads in part: “Dear colleagues, notwithstanding the easing of the lockdown, the threat of COVID-19 remains high and real. Today, we received a painful reminder of this threat.

“We are deeply saddened to announce that one of our colleagues died in the early hours of today (Monday, May 4th) while being treated at the Infectious Disease Center in Yaba, Lagos.”
