It is no news that Nigeria has recorded her first case of the deadly coronavirus, formally known as COVID-19, as the Lagos State Government confirmed on Friday.

The COVID-19 was brought to the country by an Italian man who came on a brief business visit. He has since been isolated at the Lagos State Biosecurity Facilities.

In a statement issued on social media, state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, advised Lagosians to go about their daily activities and to observe basic hygiene as his administration work towards containing the virus.

While fears may have increased in the Lagos metropolis, MyNigeria, as provided by an expert in a Twitter video, brings you a detailed description of how to properly use a facemask.

According to Seto Wing Hong of the World Health Organisation - WHO Collaborative Centre during an interview with QuickTake by Bloomberg, the following are proper ways to use a face mask:

- Firstly, you MUST get the right protective mask

How to know the right mask: "it has a blue colour on the outside because it's waterproof and the white on the inside which for absorption" Wing said

Wing said that "you have to wear the blue on the outside and the white on the inside," adding that it is wrong to wear it around the neck, especially like doctors do.

- Secondly need to locate the metal strip at the top of the mask&pin it on your nose bridge

- After locating the aforementioned, ensure that you cover your nose and mouth properly

ND: the mask has to pinch from the top of your nose down to your chin below

- Ensure that you do not touch the front of the mask because it becomes dirty after use

- It is very important to wash hands after use/removal

- Also note that once a mask is used, IT MUST NOT BE REUSED
