As Nigerian superstar Davido and his chef partner Chioma's wedding draws near, the anticipation and excitement among fans and followers of the couple are at an all-time high.
A few days ago, the controversial blogger Stella Dimoko Korkus announced the couple's nuptials on her Instagram page.
In a viral video, Davido revealed the news with several guests, including well-known preacher Pastor Tobi Adegboyega. Davido was heard saying to one of the guests in the video, "Come to Nigeria for my wedding."
Before the highly anticipated wedding, Davido shared a few pre-wedding pictures of himself and Chioma on his Instagram page. This sent social media into a frenzy as many congratulated the pair on what they believe should have happened sooner.
The pair married in a closed-door traditional ceremony witnessed by a small group of family and friends. They were engaged after their first son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, died in a terrible incident in 2022. Since then, they welcomed a set of twins.
The wedding dubbed "Chivido24" is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, June 25, and is expected to be the biggest wedding of the year. However, not everyone in the entertainment industry may be fortunate enough to receive an invite to the highly anticipated event.
In this article, MyNigeria explores some popular celebrities who may miss out on Davido and Chioma's wedding and the reasons behind their exclusion.
Below are some celebrities likely to miss out on the event
1. Eniola Badmus
Nollywood actress and ardent APC supporter Eniola Badmus is a close friend of Davido but the pair fell out in 2022. This comes after Badmus shared content about Davido's late son, Ifeanyi on her YouTube page and the circumstances surrounding his death.
Her relationship with the family meant she was privy to exclusive information.
Following this, Davido unfollowed Eniola Badmus and they have not been friends since then.
After Davido shared his pre-wedding photos on social media, Eniola took to her Instagram page to write, "I was dere for you remember to tell them."
2. Portable
Controversial singer Portable is among the few celebrities who will not be able to attend the 'wedding of the year' as he recently had a back-and-forth with the Afrobeats superstar.
A few weeks ago, Davido and Portable made headlines after they hung out together in the United States. Heartwarming and fun videos of the pair surfaced online as Portable also spoke about how excited he was to hang out with Davido. The singer also praised Davido for being a good person and detailed how people wanted him to fight the Grammy Award nominee but he never did.
However, in a turn of events, Portable called out Davido for being a bad friend and giving him bad advice while they were in the US. Portable explained that Davido advised him to record with Empire Music when he (Davido) was recording with Sony Music. He added that Davido used him to trend without giving him money or having a collaboration with him.
Davido unfollowed him afterward.
3. Jiggy Lawyer
Davido's former legal representative, Bobo F. Ajudua, often known as Jiggy Lawyer is likely to miss out on the singer's elaborate wedding following his recent dismissal.
In May 2024, news broke that the singer had sacked his longtime friend and lawyer Bobo Ajudua over embezzlement of funds. A claim Davido confirmed.
He, however, denied the purported claim that it was due to embezzlement of funds. Davido also warned his fans and the public to disregard the rumors linking the development to fraud.
4. Wizkid
The relationship between Davido and Wizkid degenerated following the growth in their careers.
Their fans have also been blamed for fueling the rift between them.
Wizkid recently sparked a rife debate after he shared a video of Davido kneeling before an Atlanta-based stylist.
As a result of the fracas between them, Wizkid is likely to be among the people who will not make it to Davido's wedding.
5. Burna Boy
Burna Boy has had a rocky history with Davido. It has been marked by social media spats and verbal exchanges. Their rivalry escalated in the public eye, making Burna Boy's attendance at the wedding uncertain as tensions between the two persist.
Recall that the relationship between Davido and Burna Boy went sour in 2020, which resulted in a clash at a club in Ghana.
In an interview with Hot 97FM, Davido revealed that they were not the ones involved in the physical brawl at the Ghanaian club but their fans.
He noted that his relationship with Burna Boy, was very fragile, stressing they used to relate on good terms but no longer speak to each other.
6. Dammy Krane
Once a close ally of Davido, Dammy Krane's relationship with the singer soured after a series of public disagreements and allegations. Despite attempts at reconciliation, their friendship has not fully recovered, raising doubts about Dammy Krane's invitation to the wedding.
The internet spat between the two became more intense in October 2023 when Dammy Krane claimed that Davido owed him money for their hit song "Pere" from 2017 and begged him to pay the amount, using his daughter's upcoming school fees as justification.
In response to the accusations, Davido stated in a post on X that he was never paid for the three verses he provided to Dammy Krane's song nine years ago.
Since then, the two have not been on speaking terms since Dammy Krane constantly criticizes Davido whenever he gets the chance. It seems probable that Dammy Krane won't be invited to Davido's wedding as a result of this internet feud.
