The Celestial Church of Christ Worldwide has broken its silence over the death of Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba, who died on August 5, 2026, at the age of 40.

In a statement issued on August 11 and signed by the church’s Head of Media and Publicity, AVSE Kayode Ajala, the church addressed allegations surrounding the actress’s death and the involvement of her fiancé, Prophet Itunu Onadeko, Shepherd-in-charge of the Celestial Church of Christ Onibuore Cathedral in Bogije, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos.

The church expressed sadness over Osoba’s death but said it would not remain silent as its name was linked to the controversy.

“We are not folding our arms and watching from the kerb, as the name and image of our church is dragged and battered by the alleged involvement of Prophet Itunu Onadeko in the untimely death of Temitope Osoba.”

The church also rejected allegations of idolatry, black magic, cultism and the use of charms, describing the claims surrounding its Shepherd as embarrassing.

According to the statement, an internal investigation is already underway, with the church promising to work with the police and other relevant law enforcement agencies to establish what happened.

The church further warned that if allegations against Onadeko are proven true, he would face both the church’s internal disciplinary measures and the full force of the law.

The church’s Spiritual Head, Reverend Emmanuel Mobiyina Oshoffa, was also said to have assured Osoba’s family and the public that the church was taking steps to ensure justice.

The development comes amid growing controversy surrounding the actress’s death. Osoba’s fiancé had previously spoken about her final moments, while her family also postponed her burial.

Veteran actress Ronke Oshodi Oke had earlier criticised Onadeko over his conduct following Osoba’s death. She questioned his relationship with the actress, including reports that they had lived together for years without getting married.

She also accused him of tolerating Osoba’s smoking habit while donations were reportedly coming in, before distancing himself from her after the money allegedly stopped.

The Celestial Church concluded its statement by praying for the repose of Temitope Osoba’s soul.
