Talented Nigerian artiste, Chukwuka Ekweani, popularly known as Ckay has revealed the circumstances that led to him landing compatriot, Joeboy and Ghanaian artiste, Kuami Eugene on his hit song, ‘Love Nwantiti’.

Speaking exclusively to MyNigeria.com, the artiste stated that getting the two acts on the song happened out of the blue, noting that he is not one who strategizes before getting other artistes on a song.

“I’ve known Joeboy for a while, even before he became Joeboy. I knew him for a short while and I’ve always loved his music. I am the kind of person that I make music with the people that I like, that I vibe with. It’s not always a strategy,” he said.

Ckay said that he had no relationship with Kuami Eugene prior to the recording of the song. According to him, an on-air-personality in Ghana connected them together when he arrived in the country. He added that he built an acquaintance with Eugene and the magic happened.

“Kuami Eugene happened when I was in Ghana. I came to Ghana last year November, and this OAP at Citi FM, her name is Nana. She came to see us at the airport, and she was like ‘Oh Kuami Eugene will like to see you guys because he heard you guys were around."

“So, we went straight to the studio that same night. I had malaria that night, actually, I got down the plane and I was heavily sick.

"But I really wanted to meet him because I heard his music before, I heard ‘Angela’ and ‘Confusion’ and I really liked it so I went to the studio and we were just vibing, playing music. I played him the Love Nwantiti record and he liked it, and we recorded it,” he said.

Responding to how he got Joeboy on the song, Ckay said: “A couple of days later, I went to London from there. When I got back, I thought that this will be crazy so I got Joeboy on it. I could just hear his vibe on the song as well," he explained.

So, we were backstage and I was like, ‘Yo I have this song’ and he said I should send it to him. And he liked it and jumped on it, he told me he even liked it when the original one dropped. We got together shot the video and it was a good song,” he added.

Currently signed to Audu Maikori’s Chocolate City, Ckay is regarded as one of the most promising stars of the new school.
