'Burna Boy is cheap and fake, he sees himself as the Jesus of Afrobeat' – Brymo fumes

Controversial Nigerian singer Brymo has criticized Grammy Award-winning singer Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu better known as Burna Boy as being fake and cheap.

The singer made this claim in an interview with TVC News and charged the self-acclaimed African Giant with stealing.

In Brymo's opinion, every song that Burna Boy releases is a sample of music by other artistes and the majority of his slogans are also stolen.

Brymo made light of Burna Boy's self-styled status as the "Jesus of Afrobeat" and expressed his confusion over how the 'Last Last' hitmaker won a Grammy for his kind of music.

Additionally, he said that Afrobeat, as popularized by the late Fela Kuti, is a genre and not a music style.

Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Davido, according to Brymo, were thieves who changed the definition of Fela's music genre by adding the letter S to Afrobeat without comprehending how long and hard he worked to develop it.

The 37-year-old singer contends that contemporary performers harm genres by rebranding the works of earlier generations rather than maintaining continuity.

chrizgolden: "Brymo the video you saw was made by AI"

only1chiefff: "Guess he wants to drop another failed album so he wants to rant online as usual."

dammydudu: "Thief is a strong word. Your assertion could have been that, they are not original."

Dapomoola: "You dy whine Brymo best musician to ever come out of Nigeria, forget all the awards shits and sentiments"

DJDaley: "What’s happening with Afrobeats right now is called “Evolution” the genre is evolving thus artists are also evolving with it. You can’t really expect artists to be stagnant with their creative abilities. There’s no need calling someone a thief for sampling songs, do you know how many songs Kanye West sampled. There’s really no need for Brymo to be criticising his fellow artists in this manner even if he wants to criticise other artists, he could have done it in a more constructive manner."
