Burna Boy, whose real name is Ebunoluwa Damini Ogulu, is taking legal action against an X user, Mirex Moses, over a controversial tweet posted in 2025.

The tweet, which resurfaced online, claimed that Burna Boy shared more than a professional relationship with American artist Sean “Diddy” Combs, alleging that Diddy sought inappropriate personal benefits from the Afrobeats star.

Burna Boy’s legal team described the post as defamatory and issued clear instructions to Moses regarding how to address the matter.

In a letter dated January 26, 2026, the singer’s lawyers demanded that the tweet be removed immediately and that Moses confirm the deletion via a specified email. The legal notice gave him 48 hours to comply, warning that failure to do so would result in formal legal proceedings.

The situation has sparked mixed reactions among fans. Some praised Burna Boy, popularly called Odogwu, for defending his reputation and warned that such actions could serve as a deterrent against online defamation. Others, however, compared his response to that of fellow Nigerian star Wizkid, who has faced similar false claims without taking public legal steps, commending Wizkid for remaining calm in the face of online controversies.
