Controversial crossdresser Idris Olanrewaju Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky on Friday, April 5, 2024, pleaded guilty to abuse of the naira at the Federal High Court in Lagos.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had filed six counts against the crossdresser and two counts of money laundering. However, the money laundering charges were dropped.

The anti-graft agency said on Thursday, April 4, 2024, when it confirmed the arrest of Bobrisky that it has commenced an investigation into videos of him spraying Naira notes at an event.

The commission's spokesperson Dele Oyewole claims that Bobrisky was invited by the agency after a video emerged of him spraying and showing off wads of brand-new naira notes at the Ajakaju movie launch on March 24.

He said: “Investigation also revealed that he had committed similar offences at some other event centres and parties at different times.

“Following the invitation by the Commission, he arrived at the Lagos Zonal Command of the EFCC in the morning of Wednesday, April 4 for interrogation and volunteered his statements.

“He will soon be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations,” Oyewole said.
