BREAKING: Seyi Makinde tests positive to COVID-19

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has announced that his test result for COVID-19 came out positive.

In a post shared on his official Twitter handle, Sey Makinde stated that he has gone into self-isolation despite not showing any symptoms yet.

He wrote: "I just received my COVID-19 confirmation test result. It is POSITIVE. I am asymptomatic and will continue to self-isolate".

He added: "I have designated Prof Temitope Alonge, former Chief Medical Director of the University College, Ibadan, as the Head of COVID-19 Task Force while I recover fully. Please continue to comply with all the directives from the COVID-19 Task Force. Stay home, stay safe".

The news comes days after the governor apologized following criticism received for staging a political rally amidst COVID-19 in Nigeria.

In a statement issued, the governor stated that the rally was staged based on the information they had about the virus at the time.

He, however, took responsibility for the action and advised people on measures to follow to keep themselves protected from the virus.
