Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has stirred conversations online after a video surfaced showing her partying at a nightclub in Abuja, just weeks after the tragic loss of her younger sister, Ruth Otabor. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

Ruth reportedly died following a fatal accident involving one of billionaire Aliko Dangote’s trucks in Edo State, an incident that drew widespread sympathy for the Otabor family. Shortly after Ruth’s burial, footage emerged online capturing Phyna in high spirits, dancing and socializing with friends at a high-end nightlife spot in the nation’s capital.

The video quickly went viral, prompting mixed reactions from social media users. While some criticized Phyna for stepping out so soon after her sister’s passing, others defended her, stressing that grief is personal and people process loss differently.

One user wrote, “Isn’t this too soon Wetin I know” while another countered, “Going to club doesn’t stop the grieve. She’s obviously trying to cheer up, so let her be.”

Some fans also recalled that Phyna had earlier revealed her family received ₦20 million in compensation from Dangote’s team following the accident that claimed Ruth’s life.

Despite the criticism, many Nigerians urged empathy, pointing out that celebrities often face harsher judgment because their lives are constantly under public scrutiny.
