Male housemates in Big Brother Naija Season 11 have won the first Thursday wager task of the season.

They defeated their female counterparts in a debate held on Thursday night.

The task was based on the “Nature versus Nurture” debate.

Both teams were tasked with defending opposing sides of the argument.

The female housemates argued for nurture, saying a person’s character, behaviour and achievements are shaped by upbringing, experiences and environment.

The male housemates argued for nature, maintaining that inherited traits play a greater role in shaping individuals.

After listening to both presentations, Big Brother declared the men the winners.

“Housemates, the winners of tonight’s wager are the gentlemen,” he announced.

The task was the first to be contested under the show’s new format, which splits housemates into male and female teams.

Announcing the twist on Sunday, Big Brother said: “The house would be split into two groups, the ladies and the guys, with key house challenges to be contested along those lines.”

Under the arrangement, wager tasks, arena games and other competitions will now pit the men against the women, and victories will depend on teamwork.

The new format is expected to change house dynamics, as contestants will have to balance teamwork with individual game plans amid new rivalries and alliances.
