Ayra Starr joins elite 'Big 3' after historic MOBO Awards win

Nigerian music sensation Ayra Starr has continued her global rise with another major milestone at the MOBO Awards 2026.

At the ceremony held at the Co-op Live arena during the awards’ 30th anniversary, the “Sabi Girl” clinched the Best International Act award for the second consecutive year.

Following her groundbreaking 2025 win—where she became the first African female artiste to secure both Best International Act and Best African Music Act—Ayra Starr has now successfully defended one of those titles.

With this achievement, she joins an exclusive league of Nigerian stars, including Wizkid and Burna Boy, as the only artistes to win the international category multiple times.

Her win came against strong global competition, including Cardi B, Gunna, Kehlani, Tyla, Mariah the Scientist, Clipse, and Vybz Kartel.

Although she missed out on the Best African Music Act award to Wizkid, her back-to-back international win highlights her growing dominance and global appeal. At just 23, Ayra Starr is fast cementing her place as one of the leading voices of her generation.
