Atlanta Mayor declares November 18 ‘Davido Day’

Atlanta's mayor, Andre Dickens has acknowledged the contribution of Nigerian Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke better known by his stage name Davido to the city's entertainment industry.

After the OBO crooner's A.W.A.Y Festival headline performance at Atlanta's State Farm Arena, the Mayor and Atlanta City Council proclaimed November 18 as “Davido Day” in honour of the musician.

In a message to Davido, the Mayor noted that Davido has “captivated audiences worldwide, becoming a global icon in the music industry. On behalf of the City of Atlanta, thank you for your tireless efforts as a renowned singer, songwriter, producer, business leader, philanthropist, and community advocate.

"Throughout your remarkable career, you’ve amassed an incredible number of accolades and continue to use your platform to give back to communities in the United States and throughout Africa.”

Davido has also been honoured by the Board of Commissioners of the Fulton Council.

The Board of Fulton County, Georgia, has declared November 21 to be "Davido Appreciation Day."

A statement by the Board reads: “Be it resolved, That the Fulton County Board of Commissioners recognizes David for his contributions to the music and entertainment industry, and does hereby proclaim Tuesday, November 21, 2023 ‘Davido Appreciation Day’ in Fulton County, Gourgia."
