Former vice president, Atiku Abubakar has stated that testing positive to coronavirus is not a death sentence.

Atiku stated this in a tweet in which he commended the Comptroller General of Customs, Muhammed Babandede, and Governors Nasir El-Rufai and Bala Mohammed for disclosing their test result which came out positive to the virus.

According to Atiku whose son also tested positive, coronavirus can be beaten when people are open about their status.

He tweeted: “I wish to recommend the examples of Governors Bala Mohammed, Nasir El-rufai and CG of Immigration, Babandede MFR for their disclosure.

“We can beat this pandemic by being open about it, educating our people, isolation and testing. It is not a death sentence, we will all be fine.

Atiku added: “Be safe; wash your hands, keep social distance and avoid large gatherings.”
