A 27-year-old aspiring model has been jailed for lying that she was raped by an Asian taxi driver.

Victoria Hoynes, according to The Sun, falsely claimed that the driver attacked her in the front seat on his cab before pushing her out onto the street.

Hoynes' mother reportedly phoned the cops at 3:49am on May 26 last year, stating that her daughter had returned from a night out in a distressed state saying she had been raped by an Asian taxi driver.

Before Hoynes was exposed by the dashcam, two taxi drivers were arrested and interrogated but they both denied the allegations.

After damaging the reputations of two drivers and wasting hours of police time, Hoynes' lie was exposed by dashcam footage from the taxi.

The Durham’s Next Top Model contestant was instantly transferred from being treated as a potential victim to a suspect.

Shaun Dodds, prosecuting, said in her initial interview she changed her description of the driver from being in his 40s to 20s with spiked, gelled hair.

Hoynes maintained her original story, stating she would not risk her job at Frankland Prison and her “lifestyle” over the incident.

Judge James Adkin at Durham Crown Court said time and effort had gone into proving her “wicked complaint”.

He said the “complete fabrication” had impacted heavily on both men and policing resources.

Hoynes, who was a former prison officer, admitted intending to perverting the course of justice and was jailed for 20 months.

Adam Birkby, defending, said she now accepts full responsibility and wants to make “sincere apologies” to both drivers and the police.
