Army marks World Heart Day in Damaturu

TROOPS of Sector 2 headquarters of Operation Lafiya Dole, Damaturu yesterday went on a road-show to create awareness on heart related diseases.

This year’s World Heart Day is titled: Acting Commander Army Level II Field Hospital, Damaturu, Major James Agbe said the awareness campaign was organised to mark the global World Heart Day; a day set aside by the United Nations (UN) to create awareness against cardiovascular diseases.

Major Agbe had earlier delivered a lecture on the importance of the heart to the body and how to properly take care of the heart, to avoid cardiovascular diseases.

He said statistics had shown that over 20 million people die of heart-related diseases constituting the major cause of death in the world.
